Djis un Pensamentu. Kolekshon di poesia i prosa poétiko. Tomo I: UNESCO Prize for Mother Language Papiamentu 2011

On 21 February 2011, International Mother Language Day, UNESCO announced the winners of the UNESCO Prize for Mother Language Papiamentu for the year 2011. The winner in the amateur category was Komishon Arte di Palabra and the winner in the professional category was Mrs. Cathleen Giterson with her project 'Djis un Pensamentu' which consists of the book Djis un Pensamentu. Kolekshon di poesia i prosa poétiko. Tomo I and the website www.djisunpensamentu.com.

The Minister for Education, Science, Culture and Sports Mr. Dr. René Rosalia has awarded the winners with their prize. There were 11 nominations of which 9 were nominators.

 

It was after 4 years that this prize was awarded again. The judge consisted of mrs. Muriel Meyer, Mr. Gibi Bacilio and Mr. Arthur Tjin-Kon-Fat. Each nominator received a certificate and the winners received a beautiful plaque and an amount of NAf. 2500.

 

This evening was very pleasant. The hall was full and everyone present could enjoy music, song and poem declamation as we can see in the pictures. Congratulations to the winners. And a very special congratulations to Cathleen and Djispi. Keep up the good work. :)
