OPENING CHILDREN'S BOOK FESTIVAL 2013, 2015 AND 2016 AT BOEKHANDEL BRUNA

Children's book festival 2013 at Bruna Bookstore

The children's book week was from October 26 to November 3, 2013.

 

On October 26 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Boekhandel Bruna had its traditional activities during this week's opening.

 

The theme was: Sports and games.

There were several shows like stunt shows and a magic show by the famous Tom Presti. Even our famous athlete Churandy Martina was present where everyone could take a photo with him.

The invited authors included the authors of Tooby, Kompa Nanzi and Pelikino. And of course Cathleen Giterson was also there. Cathleen with her Rainbow hat to entertain the children with her rhymes from the book Arko Iris. 101 rima pa mucha, who were rhythmically accompanied by her tambú (drum).

There were many other types of activities that made this afternoon very successful.

Bookstore Bruna opened the Children's Book Festival with their famous Children's Book Ball.

This was on October 31, 2015. The book week's motto was Weird, but true. Nature, science and technology were central. The opening was in the hands of a brass band that created a lot of atmosphere.

There were various activities, games and the opportunity to conduct some (scientific) experiments. The invited authors were Evelien van Dort, Willemijn Jussen, Germaine Jong Loy and Cathleen Giterson. There was a children's choir that sang wonderfully and there were also children who danced very beautifully. The authors did various activities with the children.

They also read to the children and the children listened attentively. The great Tom Presti was also present and he entertained all the children who watched his magic show with full attention.

Tanchi Cathy told the children present how a rainbow is created and also how "shade is created". She even told them about our tradition of using natural medicines. She showed them and let them smell to guess some of our Curaçaon herbs. She also showed the children some examples of transport from the past that she compared with transport from today and how, for example, a car has evolved. During this presentation, the audience could listen to some songs from the latest CD by Tanchi Cathy, ARKO IRIS. Kantika pa mucha. Volúmen 2. The famous 'Mai' [Granny] of the song Mai riba kabai [Granny on the horse] of the CD Volume 2, came, without an invitation, by the end of the presentation of Tanchi Cathy to ride her majestic horse among the children while the children also danced with her with pleasure.

It was a very pleasant day as we can see in the photos.

Children's book festival 2016 at Boekhandel.

Children's book week 2016 was from October 29 to November 6, 2016. The motto of this children's book week was: Forever young!

 

This year, the grandfathers and grandmothers were central. Grandmas and Grandpas play an important role in the lives of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. That is why this year this theme was discussed.

Boekhandel Bruna has opened the Children's Book Week 2016 with their traditional Children's Book Ball. This took place on Saturday 29 October 2016. The opening was done by a brass band that created a lot of atmosphere. There were various activities and children's games, such as a puppet show and pocket jumping. Some authors were invited, including authors Monique Cassimiri and Tanchi Cathy.

Òmpi Tio and Tanchi Merly entertained the children with singing and drumming on a tambú. There were children who read stories for the children present and the children listened with great pleasure. Author Germaine Loy Jong also got the children to move a lot through dance and physical activity. There was a mini theater show where Little Red Riding Hood was rescued by Super Grandma, who was dressed up as a Super hero, when the wolf wanted to eat her.

It was a lovely day.
